NVQ (Level 2) HAIRDRESSING
This course consists of about 60% practical training (in our own salon) and 40% theory, and covers
every aspect of working in a professional salon. As you work normally, you will gain experience and
confi dence in a range of skills including: Advising and Consulting Clients; Cutting Hair; Styling and
Finishing Hair; Colouring Hair; Scalp Massage. You will learn how to work safely and how to give a
professional impression to clients.
Specific Entry Requirements: You will need NVQ Level 1 or three GCSEs at Grade A* - C. Science-
based, English and Maths qualifi cations would be useful, but are not essential. Of more importance are
the personal qualities of common-sense, good self-organisation and the ability to listen and learn.
Additional Expenses: Approximately £170 for kit, including textbook and uniform.
Residentials: These vary each year.
Progression: Level 2 Hairdressing leads to Level 3 (part-time only). Staff can give advice on
employment.
