City & Guilds PREPARING TO WORK IN THE CARE SECTOR

This one-year course is an introduction for people who are interested in working in Care or Early Years
practice. The course combines classroom sessions with practical work experience.

Specific Entry Requirements:You should have a keen interest in working with children and older
adults.

Work Experience: You will spend time working in a care setting either with children, the elderly, or
adults with support needs

Additional Expenses: CRB check £37. Yeovil College Polo shirt £12. There will be trips that will need
subsidising if you choose to attend.

Progression: At the end of the course, you may wish to
progress on to CACHE Level 1 Foundation Award in
Caring for Children, or a Level 1 Health and Social Care
qualifi cation, or seek employment in the care sector
at Level 1.

CACHE Foundation Award (Level 1)

CARING FOR CHILDREN

This one-year course provides an
introduction to all aspects of childcare.
The course combines practical work
experience with sessions in the
classroom. Units covered include:
Human Growth and Development;
Food and Nutrition; Health and Safety;
Care of Children; Play and Practical
Activities.

Specific Entry Requirements: A range
of GCSEs at Grades D to F, which should
include English.

Work Experience: You will spend time
working with babies and children in different
settings including nurseries, pre-schools and
schools.

Additional Expenses: CRB check £37. Course textbook
£16. Yeovil College Polo shirt £12.

Progression: Learners who successfully complete this course may progress
onto the CACHE Level 2 Childcare and Education, an Apprenticeship programme or directly to
employment.
