- FASHION AND CLOTHING

This course provides the underpinning knowledge, understanding
and skills for those wishing to pursue careers in a broad range of
areas in the fashion and clothing industries. It includes topics such
as Visual Recording, Materials, Techniques and Processes, Ideas and
Concepts, Visual Communication and a choice of two specialist units.

Specific Entry Requirements: Standard entry requirements as well as an
active interest in fashion and clothing,

Additional Expenses: £50 for materials during the fi rst year and any costs for fi nal design project
materials, depending on your design. Specialist fabrics will require an additional cost. You are advised
to provide your own fabric scissors, needles, pins and tape measure.

Residentials: Potential destinations include a day-trip to London and a residential, which in the past
has been to Paris, the home of Haute Couture and Fashion.

Progression: On completion of this course, you could progress to a Foundation degree. You could
also go into industry-training in the following areas: fashion, clothing and costume.

BTEC National Certifi cate (Level 3) PHOTOGRAPHY

The course is of a practical nature and, over the completion of 12 coursework-based units, you will
master the technical elements needed in photography, as well as developing personal and creative
skills.

You will be very much in charge of your learning and fi nd that you use a considerable amount of your
own time in addition to the programmed nine hours per week to complete your work.

Specific Entry Requirements: Standard entry requirements and an active interest in the subject.

Additional Expenses: £50 at the start of each year for materials. Access to your own camera is
desirable. There may be additional costs for trips.

Trips: A number of trips will take place during the course. The aim of these is to assist you in the
completion of the coursework units.

Progression: You may move directly into employment within the sector or you could progress to
university-level courses.
