AS/A Level PHOTOGRAPHY

This course introduces you to the basics of
photography including the use of the camera,
composition, viewpoint, depth of fi eld, and darkroom
work. During your course you will keep notebooks
and research sheets which will include fi rst-hand
visual research and practical development of ideas.

Specific Entry Requirements: Standard entry
requirements for A Levels apply.

Additional Expenses: Materials fee of £35.
Additional costs may be incurred depending upon
personal project work.

Trips: You will visit local and London galleries as part
of your research for your coursework, personal study
and exam. Trips will cost approximately £35.

Progression: This course is good preparation if you intend
to apply for an Art Foundation course or other specifi c higher-
education qualifi cations.

AS/A Level PHYSICS

This course has been developed in conjunction with the Institute of Physics. It contains modern ideas
and applications, such as digital media and communications, materials, fundamental particles, space
and time. It looks at physics in society, the people behind discoveries and the development of ideas.
You will be encouraged to develop confi dence in using equipment and instrumentation, including
computer systems, for the collection and analysis of data. Our laboratories, with excellent computer
access, are ideally suited to this course.

Specific Entry Requirements: Standard entry requirements for A Levels apply. GCSE Additional
Science or GCSE Physics at Grade A* - B, plus a Grade A* - B in GCSE Maths. However, interest and
enthusiasm are just as important as your paper qualifi cations.

Additional Expenses: £30 for text-based CD ROMs (optional).

Progression: Physics opens the door to a wide range
of university-level courses and a variety of careers
where you are needed to deal confi dently with the
modern technological world.
