AS/A Level Double or Single Award HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE

This course develops the knowledge, skills and professional understanding required in careers
concerned with working with and supporting others. Modules studied include: Human Growth and
Development; Communication and Values; Promoting Health and Well-being; Investigating Disease.

Specific Entry Requirements: Standard entry requirements for A Levels apply, with GCSE English
Language at Grade B being a pre-requisite.

Work Experience: Theory is related to practice through work experience of half-a-day a week in
different settings.

Additional Expenses: CRB check £37. Textbooks approximately £22 per year. Yeovil College polo
shirt £12 (Optional).

Progression: Many students progress to study at university-level or follow professional courses, such
as those available at the UCY. Most students move on to careers in nursing, teaching, social work or
youth and community work. Some choose to do voluntary work before going on to university.

AS/A Level HISTORY

This course gives you the opportunity to learn
about the most important and infl uential
fi gureheads dating back to the 1600s. You
will explore the British Civil Wars, the trial
and execution of Charles I, the English
Republic and Oliver Cromwell, Nazi
Germany, National Socialism and the
causes of the Second World War.

for A Levels apply; however,
consideration will be given to
students who show genuine
interest in the subject.

Additional Expenses: £40 for
visits and approximately £375 for
residential.

Residential: Previous trips have
included a trip to Berlin

Progression: This course is useful for
entry on to many university-level courses,
including those available at the UCY, as
History is regarded as a challenging
and rigorous subject. It is also useful
for careers in journalism, the
media, the public services,
business management and the
law.
