product design or graphic design.
Additional Expenses: £40 for materials, plus any costs for fi nal major project materials, which will
depend upon your design.
Residentials: There may be an opportunity to attend a one-week residential in New York.
Progression: You could progress to a university-level course, such as those offered at the UCY, further
training or employment in areas such as furniture design/making, graphic design, product design,
packaging design or model making.
AS Level ELECTRONICS
Electronics today is at the very heart of a wide range of modern technologies: communications,
entertainment, information processing and transport. In fact, it is very difficult to imagine our present
way of life without modern electronic devices. Most electronic systems can be broken down into much
simpler 'sub-systems'. This course aims to give you an understanding of how these sub-systems
work and how they can be combined to perform complex tasks. With the right approach, you should
eventually be able to design electronic systems yourself and be capable of solving a wide range of
problems.
Specific Entry Requirements: Standard entry requirements for A Levels apply. You should have
GCSE Additional Science and GCSE Maths preferably at Grade A* to B. However, interest and
enthusiasm for the course are just as important.
Progression: It adds an extra dimension
in your progress towards a university-level
course. It is also an outlet for anyone
with an interest in a 'hands-on' practical
subject.
