The AQA Baccalaureate

What Is the course about?

The AQA Baccalaureate (Bacc) is an innovative academic qualifi cation which builds on your core A
Level subjects through wider learning and enrichment activities.

By achieving an AQA Bacc, you will be able to demonstrate that you have a commitment to learning and
have further developed your skills. Enrichment opportunities will allow you to extend your education
and personal growth beyond your A Level studies.

The AQA Bacc encourages you to demonstrate you are imaginative, resourceful and can work on your
own initiative - all core skills that employers and universities look for.

The qualifi cation is made up of four essential elements;

• Recognised In-Depth Academic Study: you can take any three A Level subjects

• Broader Study: you can study either AS Critical Thinking or AS Citizenship

• Independent Learning: you will complete an extended project

• Personal Development: you will need to take part in enrichment and extra curricular
activities such as volunteering, Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme, community work etc

The AQA Bacc is studied over two years alongside three A Level subjects and is graded as follows;

In addition to the grade achieved for the AQA Bacc, your A Levels will still be graded and counted
individually.

Standard Entry Requirements

You will need to achieve the standard entry requirements for A Levels and show enthusiasm for
learning. The Bacc is available to study for all students taking three A Levels and will most likely appeal
to the most academically-focussed.

Progression

Achievement of the AQA Bacc will greatly enhance your higher education and employment prospects.
Highly regarded universities have welcomed the development of the qualification.
